Terry and Reneé Mize committed enough to fund one water well. Through New Harvest Ministries International, that gift helped provide four wells in India.

When Dale and Jeanne Scholten sat down with Terry and Reneé, they described a practical need that is easy to overlook when water comes from a tap. In remote communities, reaching a water source can mean walking miles-and then carrying the water home.

The Scholtens' work through New Harvest includes ministry in East Africa and India. Fresh-water wells are one way they meet a daily need while expressing the love of Christ.

A gift that went further

Terry and Reneé responded to the amount requested for a well. Then the Scholtens' contact in India found a driller who could provide four wells for that same amount.

In their interview, the Scholtens described the outcome simply: "four wells for the price of one." One commitment reached further than anyone had first expected.

Water for everyone

The conversation returned to a detail on the well's sign: the water was free for everyone. The gift served the community, and the welcome extended to all.

Jeanne recalled well dedications where villagers arrived with colorful water vessels. Alongside the celebration of a new water source, the team shared the message of Jesus and invited people to hear about His love.

A well is something a family can use. It brings a practical expression of care into ordinary life. For Dale and Jeanne, that everyday usefulness and their Christian mission belong together.
