A Dutch oven can bake bread. In the mountain communities of Durango, Mexico, it also helped open a door to friendship and hope.

Our partners Jerry and Rachel Witt serve communities in Mexico through ministry that includes reaching remote places by air. Alongside that work, Rachel found a simple way to spend time with women: teaching them to bake.

More than a meal

Through JMICF, we helped provide Dutch ovens for that work. Rachel used baking lessons to build relationships with women in the communities she served.

Learning a useful skill created an opportunity to share time together. As those relationships grew, Rachel encouraged women to recognize their worth.

The oven was a practical tool. The care expressed through those relationships gave the gift a deeper purpose.

Love takes time

We often think about giving in terms of the item purchased. Our partners help us see what can grow around it: a lesson, a friendship, and an opportunity to encourage someone personally.

Jerry and Rachel bring that commitment to the people they serve. Our role is to stand with them and help provide practical resources for their work.

Generosity close to home

Through the generosity of JMICF and TMM partners, an ordinary piece of cookware became part of ministry in Mexico. We are grateful for gifts that help our partners meet people in the everyday moments of life.
