A story changes when the person who lived it is standing in front of you. For Pastor Rob Stribling, Annie Osborn, and Sterling Osborn, meeting missionaries face to face made the possibilities of partnership personal.

In their conversation with Terry and Reneé, the visitors from Jacksonville, North Carolina, reflected on attending a missions gathering. They had heard stories before. Now they were sharing meals and conversations with the people behind them.

Ordinary encounters, extraordinary lives

The group described meeting people in the hotel and then hearing about their work during the gathering. Someone who seemed unassuming in an elevator turned out to have a remarkable story of service.

That changed how they saw the people around them. The work was no longer distant. It had a name, a face, and a family.

A calling to help others go

Annie spoke about recognizing her own part in missions as a sender-someone who helps make it possible for others to serve. Meeting missionary families strengthened her desire to give.

Sterling described the value of being able to ask questions and hear the whole picture. Spending time together revealed opportunities to participate that he had not known existed.

Some people go to another country. Others help provide the resources that allow the work to continue. The conversation showed how closely those roles are connected.
