An orphanage in Zimbabwe was planting crops by hand. Through the generosity of JMICF and TMM partners, a tractor, a disc, and a planter helped its harvest reach other orphanages and its village.
Bornface Davidson's connection to this work is personal: it reaches into his homeland and childhood village. Growing food was already part of the work, with cattle pulling plows and planting and harvesting done by hand.
Tools for a greater harvest
We helped provide farming equipment to support the people doing that demanding work. Their commitment was already there. Our partners' generosity helped put practical tools in their hands.
The harvest went on to support orphans, orphanages, widows, and people in the surrounding community.
Food when a family's own supply runs out
Grain is stored in a barn and shared after families have exhausted their own supplies. Bornface's uncle considers household size when helping distribute it. The work also includes growing peanuts and making peanut butter to share.
Those details show how a gift of equipment can become care for a family. The tractor helps with the work in the field; local people carry that care through to the harvest and its distribution.
